About Meira T.
Learn About the brand
Most brands built around fine, layerable jewelry start with a designer. Meira T started with diamonds. Tobie Tugendhaft, a Belgian diamond dealer, founded the company in 1976 as International Diamond Import, and it stayed a stone business until 2002, when his wife Meira began designing pieces of her own. The work took over, and the company took her name.
That origin still shows in the product. The diamonds in a Meira T charm are hand-selected out of a family diamond operation rather than sourced to a price point, which is not the usual arrangement in the delicate-layering category. It is the difference you notice when a tiny pavé bar actually throws light.
The designs are meant to be collected rather than bought once. Charms sit off-center, motifs repeat in ways that read as personal instead of matched: initials, hearts, stars, the evil eye, hamsa hands, horseshoes. Set in 14K gold with diamonds and colored stones, from pink sapphire to turquoise and emerald, they are built to be layered against pieces you already own, including the ones from twenty years ago.
The family still runs it, now into a second generation. Come see the collection in our Saint James showroom, where you can lay a few chains against each other and see how they stack before you commit to the first one.
