Dwyer Kilcollin was a sculptor. Yves Spinelli was working at Maxfield, the Los Angeles boutique that has spent decades defining what luxury looks like on the West Coast. They founded Spinelli Kilcollin in 2010, and the combination explains the product better than any description of it does.

The Galaxy ring is the thing they are known for. Multiple bands joined by jump rings so the whole assembly moves as one object, worn stacked on a single finger or spread across several. It is a sculptor's solution to a jewelry problem: not a set of rings sold together, but one piece that happens to have several parts. Pick one up and the appeal is immediate in a way photographs never manage, because the appeal is partly the movement.

The break came when a single all-diamond pavé commission led to Vogue coverage in 2014, after which something like ten people on the magazine's own staff bought one. It has been a fashion-industry staple since, with flagships now in Los Angeles and New York.

Everything is still made by a small artisan team in downtown LA. The materials mix in ways most fine jewelers avoid, sterling silver run alongside yellow and rose gold with white and grey pavé diamonds, which is deliberate. The silver is not a cost saving, it is a tone, and it is why the stacks read as considered rather than matched.
